Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

What is a Bench Charge?
A Bench Charge is the basic fee to have your equipment worked on. It is the minimum amount you can expect to pay to have a technician look at your computer. The Bench Charge will be applied to your total labor charge.

What about Apple Warranty Service?
Yes. Absolute Mac is an authorized Apple Warranty Service Center and will be happy to perform your warranty repair. Apple's warranty covers parts and labor on your computer hardware. However, it does not cover any software issues or data backup fees.

What if my computer has both hardware and software issues?
We will determine if your system is covered by an Apple warranty and use that coverage to repair your hardware. You will be responsible for all hourly charges for work on your software issues. Software issues include performing updates, installing drivers, reloading operating system or applications, and diagnosing compatibility issues.

Why would I need a data backup?
There are many reasons, but some of the most common are:

  • To save your data from a failing hard drive

  • To move your data to a new computer

  • In case your computer must be sent to Apple for repair

  • This is because Apple does not guarantee that your computer will still contain your data when returned.

Does the cost for data backup cover all situations
No. However, it does cover the most common backups. There can be additional charges for large amounts of data, or in special cases where we have to remove a hard drive from a laptop to perform the backup. We are more than happy to provide you with a quote before proceeding.

Do you work on systems that are out of warranty
Yes, Absolute Mac will be happy to service your system.
